Arriving in Gyeongju: from the rail station or bus terminals to the right area
Gyeongju Station and the downtown express and intercity terminals are different starting points. Choose the onward trip to Hwangnidan-gil, Bomun or Bulguksa by exact address, direction and final walk.

A train ticket and a bus ticket do not bring you to the same curb. Gyeongju Station (경주역; 80 Gyeongjuyeok-ro, Geoncheon-eup) is the high-speed rail gateway; Gyeongju Express Bus Terminal (경주고속버스터미널; 2 Taejong-ro 685beon-gil, Noseo-dong) and the intercity terminal are separate downtown arrival points. Save your accommodation's Korean address and use the arrival point printed on your ticket as the starting point. Older guides may call the current rail station “Singyeongju.” Do not mistake it for the former downtown Gyeongju Station on Wonhwa-ro, now described by the city as the cultural venue Gyeongju Culture Center 1918.
If you arrive at Gyeongju Station (KTX)
For Hwangnidan-gil and Daereungwon, find a bus that actually goes toward your part of downtown on your travel date. Search your lodging's address or a particular Daereungwon entrance—not just “Hwangnidan-gil”—and check the boarding stand, drop-off and last walk. If the bus and that walk do not suit your luggage or arrival time, compare a taxi and show the driver the Korean address. Do not plan to walk all the way into the historic center from the rail station.
For a Bomun Tourist Complex hotel, search the hotel or Gyeongju World, not the broad label “Bomun”: the lakeside area's stops are not interchangeable. Going straight to Bulguksa Temple likewise calls for a check of the departure stand, Bulguksa-bound direction, stops served by that particular trip and the walk after alighting. If you intend to leave bags downtown first, plan the downtown leg and then search a separate onward trip to Bomun or Bulguksa. A familiar route number is not a promise that every trip reaches every sight in the useful direction.
Gyeongju City announced changes to routes serving the station area from July 15, 2026. Its notice names 50, 51, 70, 700, 710 and 711 in the context of the *station-area diversion*; it does not establish that every one of these routes boards at the same stand or runs directly to your destination. Recheck the date, direction and actual stops in the city bus route directory.
If you arrive at a bus terminal
Enter the express or intercity terminal named on your ticket into the map. They are not the same building; on your return, check the ticket's terminal again. Do not mistake the nearby tourist-information office for a universal bus boarding stand.
For Hwangnidan-gil or Daereungwon accommodation, inspect the walk to the actual entrance first. A central terminal can be a practical start on foot, but the precise address, luggage and weather decide whether to walk or take a taxi. Search Cheomseongdae or Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond separately if either is your first stop; they are not the same drop-off as every downtown hotel.
For Bomun or Bulguksa, find a city-bus stop near your terminal on the *correct side and in the correct direction*. A city tourism itinerary describes route 10 from the terminals via Bomun to Bulguksa, but its published intervals, fares and stop descriptions should not be treated as a current operating timetable. Check the individual trip and alighting point in the city route directory and live bus service. If the next useful departure is inconvenient or your hotel is far from its stop, compare a taxi.
Check before boarding
Choose the exact origin—경주역(KTX), 경주고속버스터미널 or 경주시외버스터미널—and your destination's Korean address. Confirm the boarding stand, direction and final walk, not just a route number. The city traffic center provides route and stop/arrival information; predicted arrivals can change. This guide deliberately promises no fixed fare, last bus or travel time. With a late arrival or heavy bags, confirm the final approach and your lodging's check-in arrangements before committing to a bus.
