For accommodation near Hongik University Station, consider the AREX All-Stop Train. Near Seoul Station, both the Express and All-Stop trains are options. For Myeongdong or Gangnam, an airport limousine bus that stops close to your accommodation is also worth considering. Even within the same neighborhood, the easiest journey depends on the address, so put the exact location on a map before choosing your route.

Hongdae, Seoul Station, Myeongdong or Gangnam?
For Hongdae, start with the All-Stop Train, which calls at Hongik University Station. You can board at the airport and get off there. Taking the Express to Seoul Station means adding another journey from Seoul Station to your Hongdae accommodation.[3][4]
If Seoul Station itself is your destination, compare the two trains. The Express has assigned seats if you want to sit throughout the ride, while the All-Stop Train is worth considering for its cost or connections at intermediate stations.[3][4]
For Myeongdong, compare an airport limousine bus with a train to Seoul Station followed by the subway or a taxi. A bus that stops near your Gangnam accommodation may also reduce transfers. Allow some flexibility in your plans after arrival, since buses are affected by road traffic.[1]
Look closely at the route between the station or bus stop and your accommodation. The distance with a suitcase, steps and long transfer passages can make a difference to the effort involved. Save the exact address and nearest station or stop, along with the Korean address to show a taxi driver.
How the two trains differ
The All-Stop Train calls at intermediate stations and connects with the urban rail network. It accepts transit cards such as T-money, which you can buy and top up at convenience stores, station sales outlets and other participating locations. The Express runs between the airport and Seoul Station with assigned seats and requires a separate ticket. You cannot enter simply by tapping an ordinary transit card at the gate. Follow AREX's guidance for ticket purchases, seating and the service you intend to take.[3][4]

Traveling with a group or several bags
An airport limousine stop near your accommodation can mean fewer transfers with luggage. When looking up a route in the airport bus search, compare its drop-off stop with your accommodation's location. The same information lists the departure terminal, boarding location and services running that day.[1]
A taxi is another option for a family or small group. With three or four people, or several suitcases, choose a vehicle that can fit both the passengers and their bags. The total fare varies with vehicle size and type, traffic and nighttime surcharges.[2]

With a wheelchair or stroller
If you use a wheelchair or stroller, or find long walks difficult, a step-free route can determine which transport works best. Look at the transfer route and the journey from a station's elevator exit to your accommodation. Use the airport's official contact details to ask in advance about any travel assistance you need.[2]
At the airport, follow signs for the transportation center and designated bus and taxi boarding areas. If you have heavy luggage or use a wheelchair, take a route served by elevators.[1][2][3][4]
Arriving late at night
Work out which trains or buses you can catch from the time you expect to leave arrivals after immigration and baggage claim. A plan based only on the flight's scheduled landing time may leave too little time to reach the last service. Your flight details will also tell you whether you arrive at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.[1][3][4]
For a late arrival, consider the last subway connection after reaching Seoul and your accommodation's check-in time. You might take a train or bus into the city and finish by taxi. If public transport has stopped running, use a taxi from the airport's designated stands.[1][2][3][4]
