Walking Namsan Park without a tower ticket: trails and city views

Choose a manageable Namsan Park walk, compare the gentler northern loop with other trails, and enjoy views without making the tower mandatory.

Namsan Park: a walk that does not need a tower ticket

For a mix of greenery and city views in central Seoul, start with Namsan Park itself.[S1] This is a park walk, not an itinerary that requires the paid observatory or indoor attractions. N Seoul Tower is a landmark, not a compulsory stop.[S1]

Check the slope at your starting point

The pictured park entrance has stairs. Approaches to the same park demand different levels of effort. If stairs are a barrier, check an official access map before choosing your entrance; this image does not demonstrate an accessible route.

Choose a gentler section

Visit Seoul describes five themed Namsan Dulle-gil paths: North Circular Road, Historical and Cultural Path, Nature and Ecology Path, Wildflower Garden Path, and Forest Trail. It describes North Circular Road as relatively flat.[S2] That does not make the whole mountain level: pick one section and turn back when it suits your group.

Let the skyline be a bonus

Views across Seoul appear beyond the trees. The next two images show different directions, not successive stops on a prescribed route. Visibility changes with the weather; check conditions that day and leave the walkway clear when taking photos.
