Arm CEO Says Chip Shortage Is Slowing AI Cancer Research

Arm chief executive Rene Haas said modelling how cancer affects DNA markers remains too complex for today’s computers, but he expects more advanced AI to help discover cancer cures within our lifetime. He said shortages across several types of chips are delaying the expansion of AI data centres and that more semiconductor factories are needed. Professor Chris Bakal of the Institute of Cancer Research argued that accurate measurements from patient samples matter more than building the largest computer, and that such predictions could cut years from treatment development.
