Haeundae to Gwangalli in One Day: A Realistic Coastal Route

Follow Haeundae Station → Haeundae Beach → Dongbaekseom/coastal trail → lunch → either Mipo or Haeridan-gil → Line 2 to Gwangan Station → dinner and Gwangan Bridge at night. 09:30 Walk from Haeundae Station

Visit Busan states 15 minutes from Haeundae Station Exit 5 to the beach.[2] Signals, crowds and luggage can extend that estimate. Facing the sea, the western end leads toward Dongbaekseom and the eastern end toward Mipo.

10:30 Scale Dongbaekseom to your legs

The official itinerary groups Haeundae Beach with the Dongbaek coastal trail.[3] The seaward deck includes steps and gradients, so slow down when wet. If your knees or schedule object, walk to a viewpoint and return by a gentler inner path. Dongbaek Station is a useful exit option; Haeundae, Dongbaek and Gwangan are all on Line 2.[1]

12:30 Lunch: choose the format, not a promoted restaurant

Check the current menu, queue and opening status.

• Milmyeon: mul-milmyeon comes in cold broth; bibim-milmyeon emphasizes spicy seasoning. Ask whether sauce can be served separately or adjusted.

• Dwaeji-gukbap: gukbap, suyuk-baekban (boiled pork with a set meal) and ttaro-gukbap (rice served separately) are not identical. Taste first, then add dadaegi seasoning, salted shrimp and chives gradually.

• Sashimi/seafood: before an evening order, confirm whether the price is market price, what weight it covers, whether a table-setting fee is separate, and whether takeaway is available. This clarifies billing; it does not certify quality.

14:00 Pick Mipo or Haeridan-gil

Choose Mipo for more coast or Haeridan-gil for cafés and less walking. Mipo is at the beach’s eastern end, so reaching it after Dongbaekseom means crossing much of the waterfront again. The official access example for Mipo Station is itself an 18-minute walk from Jung-dong Station Exit 7.[3] Haeridan-gil sits on the inland side of Haeundae Station and makes it easier to board Line 2 again. To do both, remove either the full Dongbaek circuit or a long café stop.

16:30 Take Line 2 to Gwangan

At Haeundae, board Line 2 toward Yangsan and leave at Gwangan. The official map places Dongbaek, BEXCO, Centum City and Suyeong between them.[1] Visit Busan states a 13-minute walk from Gwangan Station Exit 5 to Gwangalli Beach.[2] The station is not on the sand.

18:00 Dinner and the bridge after dark

Find the stretch with the bridge view before sitting down. Reconfirm market price, weight, table-setting charge and takeaway for seafood; another dinner choice works just as well. The route’s finale is Gwangan Bridge across the beach, which official tourism material presents as a night-sea setting.[2][4]

Rain and fatigue fallback

In light rain, wear shoes with grip and shorten the coastal deck. In heavy rain, strong wind or slippery conditions, do not force the trail: eat or rest indoors near Haeundae Station, ride Line 2, and walk only if conditions improve. Choosing Haeridan-gil over Mipo also removes a long beach crossing.

Last train or taxi?

A fixed last-train time would be misleading because station, weekday, direction and service changes matter. Before dinner, check the Busan Transportation Corporation’s live search and station displays.[5] Choose a taxi if the remaining train margin does not include the walk back to the station, or if weather, fatigue or luggage makes transfers unreasonable. Check the app route and vehicle details; traffic changes both time and fare.
