Three days in Jeju: one night in Seongsan, one in Jeju City
Head east via Hamdeok, give Seopjikoji room to breathe, then spend your final night in Jeju City. A relaxed two-night route with sensible alternatives for Udo, late arrivals and bad weather.
Three days in Jeju: one night in Seongsan, one in Jeju City
With two nights on Jeju, the temptation is to draw a loop around the whole island. I would resist it. Once arrival and departure are taken out, you have only one full day. A more comfortable shape is to head east on day one, sleep in Seongsan, spend day two by the eastern coast, then return to old Jeju City for your second night. That leaves the final morning much less fraught than a cross-island dash to the airport.
This version works best with a daytime arrival and a rental car or a plan for longer taxi rides. Day 1: Airport → Hamdeok → Seongsan
After sorting out your transport and lunch, make Hamdeok Beach a pause on the eastbound journey. Walk by the water for a while rather than treating the beach as another box to tick. If arrival formalities take longer than expected, skip Hamdeok without regret; getting to Seongsan at a comfortable pace matters more than keeping every stop.

Check in at Seongsan and, if you still have energy, walk the free-access section around Seongsan Ilchulbong or a nearby coastal path. The summit can wait until you have checked conditions on site and know how your legs feel. Dinner near your lodging and an unhurried night make the next morning more pleasant. Day 2: Seongsan morning → Seopjikoji → Jeju City
If you missed Seongsan Ilchulbong the day before, see it in the morning. If you already had a satisfying walk, there is no prize for repeating it at dawn. Give Seopjikoji the main stretch of the day: follow the coast, stop when a view catches you, and allow more time than a quick photo would take. If Udo appeals more, swap it for Seopjikoji rather than squeezing both into a required itinerary. Give the crossing and return trip their own space, and check sailing conditions before committing; weather can change the plan. The Udo day-trip guide is the place to start.
Head back towards Jeju City in the afternoon. A second-night room in the old town within convenient reach of Dongmun Market makes it easy to drop off your bag before looking for a snack or dinner. Wander the food stalls and choose whatever sounds good—perhaps gogi-guksu, dombe-gogi or bingtteok—or eat simply near your room if you are tired. The Jeju food guide explains the unfamiliar names. Day 3: A small Jeju City morning, then the airport
If your flight leaves time for it, choose one gentle outing: a short walk around Dongmun or a visit to the Jeju Folklore and Natural History Museum. You need not do both. Lunch, returning a rental car and airport formalities eat into what looks like free time on a map. With an early flight, skip sightseeing and head straight out. If you arrive late—or prefer one hotel
A late-evening landing changes the shape of the trip. Sleep in Jeju City on the first night rather than insisting on an immediate drive east. On day two, head east and choose the stops that matter most to you. If the departing flight is early, return to Jeju City for the last night; either way, fit in fewer stops than on the daytime-arrival route.
If repacking is the thing you most want to avoid, two nights in Seongsan are possible. Just remember that the last day then includes the trip to the airport, making an early departure a poor fit. Two nights in Jeju City with a day trip east is another option, but the round trip is a reason to choose among Hamdeok, Seongsan and Seopjikoji, not attempt all three. A weather-friendly version
In strong wind or rain, don't force the summit at Seongsan or the exposed path at Seopjikoji. Return towards Jeju City earlier, consider the museum for indoor time, and visit the market briefly only if conditions suit. Check museum closures and on-site conditions that day. If you have chosen Udo, confirm the boats first; if the crossing does not work out, keep your time on Jeju's main island instead.
The satisfying version of a short Jeju trip is not the one with the longest list. It is the one that lets you linger by the sea without spending your final hours worrying about the flight. One night in Seongsan and one in Jeju City provide a simple frame for deciding what stays—and what can go.
