Huinnyeoul and Taejongdae: A Yeongdo Day Trip
A realistic Nampo-to-Yeongdo route with buses, stairs, Danubi decisions, bad-weather cuts and return checks.
Huinnyeoul and Taejongdae in One Day from Nampo
Leave Nampo around 09:00 for Huinnyeoul/Jeoryeong 2–3 hr → lunch and transfer 1–1.5 hr → Taejongdae 2.5–4 hr → return, a realistic 7–9-hour day. Yeongdo has no metro; bus waits and traffic matter. See the public-transport guide and hotel-area comparison.
Nampo to Huinnyeoul
Use the official BIMS journey/stop search on the day and check the stop direction rather than memorizing one bus number.[1] Add 15–30 minutes per transfer on busy weekends.

Spend 2–3 hours on the upper viewpoints and only the coastal section your legs can handle. Linking the whole Jeoryeong trail toward Taejongdae adds roughly 3 km plus climbs.[2] Never block doors/windows, enter private property, fly a drone or leave rubbish; keep voices low. The same etiquette applies at residential Gamcheon.[3]

Versus Gamcheon: both have steep residential lanes and stairs. Gamcheon is usually reached by village bus after Metro Line 1; Huinnyeoul requires a Yeongdo bus and a choice between upper lane and coastal stairs. Lunch, transfer and Taejongdae
Allow 45–75 minutes for lunch/traffic before reaching Taejongdae; do not add every café stop. The Busan food guide helps with lunch.
At Taejongdae, free entry does not mean flat terrain.[4] The Danubi ticket booth is about five minutes uphill from the gate. It closes Mondays and in rain/inclement weather; the official Sep–May listing gives ticketing/operation as 09:00/09:20–17:30.[5] Check service and queue first. Use it when arriving late or protecting your knees; walk the observatory/lighthouse section only when fit and conditions are good. Waiting and reboarding mean the circuit is not a 20-minute visit.

Shorten safely and return
In rain or strong wind, skip coastal stairs and cliffs; do 45–60 minutes on Huinnyeoul’s upper lane, and return to Nampo if Danubi stops. See the rainy-day guide. When tired, cut in this order: Jeoryeong coast, lighthouse stairs, then all but one Taejongdae viewpoint.
Official guidance lists buses 8/30 from Nampo and several routes serving Taejongdae.[4] Danubi’s low-season 17:30–18:30 downhill support bus is not the last city bus to Nampo.[5] Start back around 19:00 and check live arrivals and direction at the Taejongdae stop in official BIMS before dinner.[1] Recheck same-day service rather than trusting a fixed last-bus time. Fit this day into the Busan 2N3D plan without duplicating its old-downtown day.
